Amy took me out to lunch and then we went shopping! What fun! When we were out at lunch the waitress saw us discussing coupons and she opined that coupons "took too much work".
Above is a picture of what I got for $78.50. Amy took 6 lbs of the bacon and 4 canisters of oatmeal. So all these groceries including 24 pounds of bacon, 10 canisters of oatmeal, toilet paper,milk, tampax, tide.. all you see for $78.50.
Ingles: Cash $74.99 Coupon savings: $45.96
Bi-lo: Cash $3.36 Savings $158.82 This included BOGO raincheck and 10/10 raincheck as well as coupons for everything.
So total savings in say 2 1/2 hours $204.78. If a waitress makes $15/hr, saving this would have allowed her to work 14 less hours than she would have had to work to buy the same amount of stuff. I would rather work less and save money. It didn't take me 14 hours to get this trip together. So I say unless you are wealthy it is too much having to work not to use coupons.
And we had a gift certificate for lunch--- double score!!!!!
Yes, Amy got a picture of me in the scooter at Ingles. I crutched it through Bi-lo.
Guess what's for breakfast? Oatmeal with berries (free blueberries from this summer) and bacon.

Jason says that cholesterol medication is going to be in order if we eat all that bacon in short order. No need to focus on any of the rest of that stuff.

There is no doubt that coupon is good. I went to Sears and paid 60 for 16 pieces of clothing. Without coupons and discounts, it would have been close to 250.
