I now "walk barefoot" with my crutches or one crutch. It has been three days and it really hurts, but I think I have to do it to get better. I have now taken a pain pill and may take one today. Sometimes I can "walk" OK and other times it is a real limping affair and i am not sure I am doing it right. I am trying to make myself go get it myself rather than asking, even if I don't feel like it.
This week I:
Made breakfast for the kids twice
Packed lunches three times
Made dinner twice (making split pea soup and homemade yeast rolls tonight, which will be third dinner)
Cleaned my own bathroom (washed floors on hands and knees)
Did some laundry
Made coffee in the morning
All these things are things I haven't done since my injury. They don't seem like much, but it is progress to me.
Next week I am going grocery shopping. I still may have to use a cart/scooter there due to the distance.
I still do not think i can get my foot in any shoes I have.
Next week Katie will take me to practice driving.
The foot feels like when you have dropped something heavy on your foot every time I try to step on it and it hurts across the ankle and swells. I know I have enough cement and hardware in there that nothing will happen to it. I know to get better it has to be used. So these things make me determined to use it. I try to put my full weight on it as much as I can. I still can't just walk walk.
Baby Steps

Ready to run and you still have to take baby steps. Sigh. So frustrating, but you'll get there! Those are mighty fine accomplishments you've listed.
Those are definitely accomplishments! If you run out of things to do at your house, feel free to come test your mettle at mine.
I'll have the camera ready when I pick you up on Wednesday to go grocery shopping. I'm sure you will need the electric cart!!!!
Use the cart, then you will be able to fully concentrate on which coupons you can use! :-)
I saw a gal tonight in a restaurant w/a boot on one foot and ankle brace on the other, walking SLOWLY w/a walker. She said she jumped over a small pipe at a campground, landed wrong. Has 8 screws in the one ankle now and sprained the other one. It's been 9 weeks and she's only supposed to put 5 lbs of pressure on it. She said walking w/the walker is more like 17 lbs but she just has to do it! I thought about you and was glad you didn't sprain the other ankle, too. I think I'd be having someone push me in a wheelchair if I'd done that. (and I'm sure she did for a while)
So list your accomplishments and see how far you've come - and you'll be going still farther!
Hugs...
PS. The above-mentioned gal also said she had learned that "once you're over 40, you shouldn't try to jump over ANYTHING!" :-)

I'm so impressed with your progress, Chunkygal ! Baby steps are exactly the right way to go about this thing ! Slow but sure will get you there, and you'll be able to walk without pain or limping next year :)
