Zombie Week 9 Day 1

Here is a picture of my darling Katie. She keeps us in stitches with her sense of humor and her impersonations. She was conceived purposely the month after i had a miscarriage. I really, really wanted a baby and having the miscarriage made me worried there was something wrong and maybe i would not have another child, so I decided not to wait the 6  months i had been told. That was my first miscarriage and I was devastated. But now I have Katie. Katie says she is happy about the miscarriage, because without it someone else would have been here, not Katie! She has certainly made me forget all about it. She is taking me driving tonight. She promises to scream "you're going to hit that car" like I did with her in the high school parking lot tonight.

Anyway, back to the ankle. I was watching TV yesterday and with all the Halloween stuff on I saw something that reminded me of how I walk now, zombies!. Not the fast "28 days" type, but the slow stumbling "Shaun of the Dead", "Night of the Living Dead" type! So now I can say it is all about a halloween theme as I lurch and limp. Yesterday I took 1/2 pain pill. It helped me walk better, but boy I didn't have any motivation. I wasn't sleepy, but wanted to nap. I don't know how to describe it, other than I was less worried about walking. I am not sure if that feeling is "getting high", but it was weird. I may try 1/4 with Motrin. I am glad I haven't needed it til now. I read stories about people on my broken ankle web group who have to have 3 to 4 a day from the beginning. If nothing else, not needing pain meds is a blessing. I would have been so depressed if I took those with any regularity.

I read an interesting book lately, called "Helping me Help Myself" (Beth Lisick), about a lady who tried a new self-help technique to address her various problems every month. Great concept, and the book was funny, but the book didn't meet up to my expectations. Except for the Richard Simmons cruise, she really didn't TRY the techniques and only gave them lip service as far as trying to understand them. She tried John Gray, Covey, Chopra....She tried to get her finances in order, and clean her house or organize it. She also skipped three months, which was a major cheat. Could have been a more interesting book. It was entertaining and i would read more of her humor books, but I am glad I borrowed it from the library and hadn't bought it. I love New Year's resolutions or change my life resolutions of all kinds and this hit on the big one's most people have ( lose weight, organize, finances), so it promised to be right up my alley. And I am thinking now about what my resolutions will be.....
